Worley, Arthur Astley

Biography :

Arthur Worley enlisted in the Leicester Military District into The Leicestershire Regiment in 1889. He was serving as Lance Corporal at Glen Parva, Leicestershire, in 1891, single, aged 22 years. Information from Glen Parva Enumeration Book, 1891 Census. Appointed Quarter Master Sergeant 4.1.1902. Served for many years as the Orderly Room Sergeant of the Regimental Depot. Discharged in 1912 and was appointed Quartermaster of the 5th Bn (T.A.). He served with the 1/5th Bn as Quartermaster in the Great War in France. He left the Bn sick in April 1918, but continued to serve until 1926. Died in 1938, aged 69 years.
