Biography :
George Stock enlisted into The Leicestershire Regiment on 7.6.1934. Appointed Unpaid Lance Corporal 11.9.1935. Was serving with 1st Bn in India in 1938. On group photo he appears 4th row, 4th left. Was with 1st Bn in Malaya and became a Prisoner of War at Singapore in Feb 1942, being released in 1945. Awarded the Military Medal for personal bravery at Kampar, and for his bravery throughout the campaign in Malaya (L.G 1.8.1946). Later served in 1st Bn in Korea and at Depot Royal Leicesters. His home town is given as Coalville, Leicestershire.
