Biography :
Alonza Platts joined The Leicestershire Regiment in 1918 and went with 1st Bn to India, 1924. Served in Egypt, and again later in India. Promoted C.Q.M.S. on 4.4.1926. Transferred to Home Establishment 1931. Served four years with the 5th Bn, then rejoined the 2nd Bn. Platts had been Warrant Officer Class II on 5.6.1932, and in 1936 he was awarded the LS&GC Medal. In 1939 he was serving as RQMS at the Depot. Received Lieutenant's Commission into Young Soldier's Bn 16.7.1941, where he served as Quartermaster. He was invalided out due to poor health on 27.6.1942. He died in 1943, aged 42. He is buried with a CWGC headstone at Coalville (Hugglescote) Cemetery, Leicestershire.
