Biography :
Educated at Oakham School, Arthur Marsh was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant 11.12.1908 in 5th Bn The Leicestershire Regiment. Promoted Lieutenant 10.8.1910. Sailed to France with 1/5th Bn February 1915. Wounded 1.7.1915 and hospitalised. His letters home at that time can be found at http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/records.aspx?cat=056-de3695&cid=-1#-1. Adjt of 3rd Militia Bn from 16.6.1917. Awarded T.D. (L.G. 8.4.1924). Resigned on 2.12.1924. In World War Two he served as a Major with the Home Guard at Melton Mowbray and awarded the O.B.E. (L.G. 1.1.1942).
